Frequently asked questions.

What is BPT’s pricing?

BPT is committed to being transparent about pricing, and to keeping services affordable on a per person basis. Budget should not be a barrier to accessing great wine, food, and education. If you have any questions about pricing, feel free to reach out and ask.

Below are BPT’s base prices. Note: Base prices include up to 12 people. Sorry, no prorating (or charging only a part of the fee if there are less than 12 people). For groups of 13-24, add $10 per additional person. For groups of 25+, contact BPT for special pricing. For events more than 50 miles from Carlisle, PA, see the “What area does BPT serve?” FAQ below.

  • BPT Signature Guided Wine Tasting and Food Pairing - $175

    • 60-minute educational guided tasting on a topic from the BPT Crowd Pleaser, Level Up, or Deep Dive lists (see lists below)

      • *Please allow 30 mins for setup and 15 mins for cleanup of BPT materials

    • Food and wine recommendations

    • Assistance with ordering/picking up food and wine

    • Suggestions for event setup, decor, theme, etc.

    • NOTE - wine and food are NOT included in the price of the tasting/pairing. YOU must purchase your own food and wine, although BPT will help you with the process.

  • BPT Custom Wine Tasting and Food Pairing - $300

    • Same as a BPT Signature Guided Wine Tasting and Food pairing, but YOU choose the theme or topic (a style, a country, a grape, whatever!)

How much should I plan to spend on wine?

BPT works hard to accommodate a wide variety of budgets. No judgment! BPT will recommend the best wines for whatever budget you have.

Plan on having 3 or 4 different wines on your menu. One bottle of wine will serve about 12 people (2 oz per tasting pour). Here are suggested budgets that will get you one bottle of each menu selection (multiply it out for groups larger than 12):

  • $75ish total = Cheap Thrills (not a thing wrong with that…) - Basic or popular examples broadly typical of type, usually from value regions and/or large scale producers that often use technology to achieve consistency and wide appeal, made to drink upon release (rather than age).

  • $125ish total = Bang for Your Buck - Premium examples of type, showing characteristics from a specific place of origin including more select or classified regions, typically hand-crafted by a smaller or more renowned producer. Can be enjoyed on release but also may have some aging potential.

  • $150ish total = Splurge Worthy - Luxury wines, best examples of type from top producers and most respected or highly classified regions, often need aging for optimum drinkability.

  • More than that = Going All Out (may require special orders) Most sought after wines from most highly regarded regions and producers. Showstopper, rare, or unicorn wines.

How much should I plan to spend on food?

Depends on your food plan, of course. If you are keeping it basic or doing the cooking yourself, it’ll be lighter on the wallet. Here are some suggested budgets:

  • Light Snacks (think bread, cheese, nuts, fruits, veggies, chips and simple dips, etc.) - $3-5 per person

  • Heavier Appetizers (gourmet snacks, meats, finger sandwiches, hot appetizers, etc.) - $7-10 per person

  • Full Meal - $10-15 per person (DIY, take-out, fresh prepared, catering pick-up, etc.)

  • Catering/Delivered - $15-30 per person

Can I buy my wine from - or through - BPT?

No. By law BPT cannot sell - or be reimbursed for - wine. However, for no additional charge, BPT will arrange for easy order, pick up, and delivery of your wine that you pay for. BPT offers lots of options to make getting your wine a breeze. See the “How do I get my wine?” FAQ below.

How do I get my wine?

Choose from any of these convenient options, or suggest another way that would work best for you:

  • If you are too busy to shop, BPT can have your wines held for payment and pickup at a brick-and-mortar store, provided you are able to get to a location that has them in stock. BPT can also arrange to share an online cart so you can make your payment directly to the vendor. See below options for help with picking up or taking delivery of online purchases.

  • If you love shopping as much as you love wine, BPT will give you the list of wines on the menu, along with suggestions for online and brick-and-mortar options where you may be able to get them cheapest, fastest, or most conveniently. Then you can shop away, picking up the wine yourself or having it delivered directly to you or to BPT (see below).

  • If you want to order online but cannot pick up your wine or be home to accept delivery, don’t sweat it. When you place your order and make payment, just designate me - Amber Sizemore of BPT - as an approved picker-upper at your nearest brick-and-mortar store, or have online orders shipped directly to me at: Big Purple Table, 950 Walnut Bottom Road, Suite 15-98, Carlisle, PA 17015. I’ll fetch it and bring it to your event for no additional charge.

  • TIP: If shopping online, CHECK THE DELIVERY DATES the online vendor provides to make sure your wine will get to you on time. If you are shipping to BPT or designating Amber to pick up your wines, ALLOW AT LEAST THREE FULL BUSINESS DAYS BETWEEN THE DELIVERY DATE AND YOUR EVENT to be sure BPT can make arrangements to get your wine in time.

However, BPT offers lots of help so feeding your guests will be a breeze according to your style, occasion, and budget, as well as any dietary restrictions or preferences. Note that it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ALERT BPT OF ANY FOOD RESTRICTIONS, ALLERGIES, or PREFERENCES AT THE TIME YOU BOOK YOUR EVENT.
